About

Why this site shows its arithmetic, and why it supports three methods instead of one.

Why this site exists

Search for a tarot birth card calculator and you will find dozens. Enter the same birthday into several of them and you will get different cards. Not because any of them is broken, but because the tradition never settled on a single formula, and almost every calculator picks one convention and presents it as fact.

We think that is the wrong way to handle a system that is, underneath, just addition.

What we do differently

Every calculator here does three things the others do not:

It shows the arithmetic. Every reduction step is printed next to your result — not hidden behind an "about our method" page. You can check it on paper in ten seconds.

It lets you switch methods. Three conventions are in wide circulation. Choose one and the whole site follows it. If your cards come out in a different order than another site gave you, you can see exactly why.

It says when the tradition disagrees with itself. Several points in this system are genuinely contested — whether a total of 30 reduces to 3 or 12, whether card 8 is Strength or Justice, whether 22 is the Fool or the Emperor. We document those disputes instead of silently picking a side.

How to read the results

For reflection and entertainment. There is no evidence that birth cards predict anything, and we would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise. What they are good for is a prompt — a way of asking yourself a question you might not have asked.

Privacy

The calculators run entirely in your browser. Your birth date is never sent to us, there is no account, and nothing is gated behind an email address.

Getting in touch

Corrections are welcome, especially about the arithmetic — if you can show that a calculation here is wrong under the convention it claims to use, we want to fix it.
